I have been watching and admiring HAHN Plastics, now globally rebranded to “hanit” for quite some time. When it became apparent that international trading rules were about to drastically change, I took a leap of faith and reached out to GM Elizabeth Hueftlein in Waterloo, ON and asked her simply “who” was delivering the hanit story and message in BC. When she revealed that no one was proactively delivering this message, primarily to municipalities, we began a serious conversation.
It’s no secret that I love environmentally friendly solutions. However, while this is a massive benefit, I would never take on a product simply because it is “eco-friendly”. It must always meet or exceed the performance delivered by existing alternatives, deliver tremendous value for the end-user and be “easy” for installers and maintenance operators. After 30 years of inventing and perfecting their process, hanit products are all that, and more!
BC gets a lot of rain – and I mean a LOT! It stands to reason that a product made of 100% recycled plastics would be a natural choice in this environment. However, it’s so effective, that most of hanit’s products are covered by a 20-year warranty. And, at the end of its life cycle, guess what? It can be recycled, again!!
So, what does this mean for BC municipalities? Well, everything! Anywhere hanit plastics are installed (i.e., around odour control and back up generator units, parks, new developments, etc.), municipal operators can count on a product that is as close to “set it and forget it” as possible!
To not consider hanit when it has a product that suits a municipal application should almost be considered borderline illegal – well, ill advised, at least! 😊
